News: Newcastle Island Website

May 1, 2007

Where can visitors to the central island go to explore nature all day and camp under the stars all night - all in virtual seclusion - while only a stone's throw from urban amenities? Newcastle Island.

The City of Nanaimo, the Snuneymuxw First Nation, and BC Parks jointly sponsor a project to raise the profile of Newcastle Island to tourists. The project includes a renewed website (www.newcastleisland.ca), a full-colour brochure with inset map, various print advertisements, and a banner display. Primal Communications of Nanaimo won the contract in September '06 for strategic creativity and execution in time for the '07 tourist season.

A brief boat ride from downtown Nanaimo, Newcastle Island is a provincial park managed by the Snuneymuxw First Nation and an unofficial nature refuge. Ideal for outdoor recreation and quiet communion with nature, the forested island features a network of trails. Hikers, kayakers, and others enjoy Newcastle's campsites where light comes only from nature. Newcastle's beaches, swept by the tides, have an untouched quality that nature-loving visitors relish.

According to Amrit Manhas of the City of Nanaimo's Economic Development Office, "Primal Communications put together an excellent proposal that met the criteria of the RFP." In meeting with Primal's Rob Dodds, she confirms, "He really understood the project and had the creative ideas to make it a success." Primal also has the expert talent to deliver excellence reliably. "In this and other work with Primal Communications, we've received excellent service and quality product."

Once the Newcastle message has reached more tourists, more people may also experience excellence - camping under the stars after days of recreation in the fresh air and natural surroundings of Newcastle Island - thanks in part to Primal's expert execution of this project.
